The Intersection of Imagination & Reality

Portfolio

To create his drawings, Justin uses simple materials that he purchases at a drugstore including basic pencils, paper from an $8.00 sketchbook and a package of school-supply-type colored pencils.  He uses a Sharpie for outlining and shadows.  Justin does not trace over images or use props to judge proportions.  What we see on the paper comes directly from what he visualizes in his mind. He believes that the materials he uses are as important to the character of his drawings as the meaning behind them…nothing expensive is used.

Justin creates his pencil drawings using his right hand, he does the main coloring with both hands and the fine coloring and shading with his left hand - which I find incredible.  He says that is just the way he draws – yet another aspect of why Justin’s art is so unique.  Having seen the drawings in person, I am amazed at the richness and amount of detail found in these 9″ x 12″ drawings.

Below are some samples of Justin’s work.  Justin has chosen only to title but not describe his work.  He says that each person will look at his work and have their own feelings and interepretation of the meaning.  Any comments about Justin’s work would be appreciated:

yes, we can dream and rebuild
    by practicing the art
    of freeing one’s mind.
yes, failure is only a phase
    like tragedy and contract
it only has a period to cover. :)

  2. I must say thank you very much for the interpretation of my work. I have never pieced it like that and that is the beautiful thing about the mind and my art work. It causes one to think and put together the componets that make up the whole. Thank You.

  5. i am more of a heart enthusiast than an art enthusiast. i never bought a piece of artwork mainly because i can’t afford it or maybe i am prudent. regardless of the case i would like to ask, how much each artwork cost? :)
